Outlook 2016

Below you will find instructions to add your StartMail account to Outlook 2016 for either Windows 10 or Mac. Please follow the instructions for your specific Operating System.

Outlook 2016 for Windows 10

  1. Open Outlook 2016 in Windows 10, and open the File tab.

  2. Click the + Add Account button.

  3. Fill out your StartMail Email address, select Advanced options, and check the Let me set up my account manually box. Click Connect when you're done.

  4. Select IMAP as your account type.

  5. Fill out the following fields from the "Your device information" popup you have generated previously in StartMail.

    Incoming mail
    - Server: imap.startmail.com
    - Port: 993
    - Encryption method: IMAP "SSL" info 
    Outgoing mail
    - Server: smtp.startmail.com
    - Port: 465
    - Encryption method: SMTP "SSL" info

    Click the Connect button when you're done.

  6. Fill out the following fields from "Your device information" popup you have generated previously in StartMail:

    - Server: imap.startmail.com (this may already be filled out)
    - User Name: your StartMail email address (this may already be filled out)
    - Password: use the password shown in the "Your device information" popup (and not your password to sign in to your StartMail account)
    - Check the Save this password in your password list box.

    Click OK when you're done.

  7. Click the OK button.

Outlook 2016 for macOS

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook and click Tools > Accounts. This will open the "Accounts" popup.

  2. If you already have an email account set up in Outlook, you can click on the + button at the bottom left, and add a New Account. If you don't have any email accounts you will see the Add Email Account button. This will open the "Set up your email" popup.

  3. Please enter your StartMail email address, and click Continue.

  4. In the new popup, please select Not Exchange? at the top right corner.

  5. Select IMAP/POP to be able to add the StartMail IMAP connection.

  6. Please add the information from the "Your device information" popup.

    - Type: select IMAP
    - Email Address: enter your StartMail email address
    - Username: enter your StartMail email address again
    - Password: use your password generated in the "Your device information" (and not the password you use to sign in to your StartMail account)
    - Incoming Server: imap.startmail.com
    - Port: 993
    - Check the Use SSL to connect (recommended) box
    - Outgoing Server:smtp.startmail.com
    - Port: 465
    - Check the Use SSL to connect (recommended) box

    Click Add Account when you're done.

  7. Your IMAP connection for Microsoft Outlook 2016 has now been set up. Click Done to finish the process.
