How to set up your StartMail account on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

Below you will find 10 steps which will help you setup your StartMail account on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. For instructions on setting up your StartMail account on an Android phone, please click here

  1.  Log in to https://startmail.com  account using a Web browser. Then click Settings from the top right corner of the page.



  2. In Settings, click on Mobile/IMAP



  3. The IMAP settings page will appear. Make sure Enable IMAP access is checked, and then click on Add device in the Devices section.



  4. Enter a name for your IMAP client (e.g., "Mac Mail"), and then enter your account password (this is the password you use to sign in to your StartMail account). Click Add Device.



  5. IMAP configuration details for your new device will be shown in the Add device popup.
    Note that the information contained in your Add device popup will differ from what is shown here.



  6. Next, please take your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, and go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Other



  7. Tap Add Mail Account.



  8. Make sure IMAP is selected at the top, then enter the information below, and tap Next when you are finished:
    - Name: your first and or last name
    - Email: your StartMail email address
    - Description: this will be filled out automatically, and should contain your StartMail email address



  9. Make sure IMAP is selected at the top, then enter the information below, and tap Next when you are finished:

    Incoming Mail Server
    - Host name: this is the "Server hostname" under "IMAP configuration" in the first box of the Add device popup.
    - Username: your StartMail emailaddress.
    - Password: the device-specific password generated in the Add device popup, not the password you use to log in to StartMail on the Web. (This password may already be filled out).

    Outgoing Mail Server
    - Host name: this is the "Server hostname" under "SMTP configuration" in the second box of the Add device popup
    - Username: your StartMail emailaddress
    - Password: the device-specific password generated in the Add device popup, not the password you use to log in to StartMail on the Web. (This password may already be filled out).



  10. Select which apps you'd like to sync with StartMail (be sure to at least check Mail) and click Save.

Note: If you have been unsuccessful, take a moment to recheck all the information you entered, especially information found in the Add device popup that was generated when you first enabled IMAP access.
