What is an email client? And how safe is it?
Last modified on 25 February 2020 10:04 AM

An email client is software that is used to access and manage a user's email. Examples include Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook (which are used on a computer), or the email app on mobile devices.

Please note that we cannot guarantee the privacy and security for third party software such as email clients because those are not our products. Like any piece of software you install on your computer, you have to trust it is securely built. Especially when you enter your password into a computer program, you need to trust that the program is built in a way that stores the password safely, or not at all.

Although using a client is not necessarily 'unsafe', we cannot guarantee it is as safe as using StartMail webmail.
