How to link an externally purchased license code

Part I of this article covers how to acquire and distribute a license code.
Part II of this article covers how to redeem that code.
I. If you have already purchased a StartMail license, continue directly below. If you have not yet purchased a StartMail license code, skip down to here: "If you have not yet purchased a StartMail account"
If you have already purchased a StartMail license that you would like to either share or use to upgrade or extend an account of your own, follow these steps:
1. Log in to StartMail on the Web.
2. In the top right, click Account
followed by My licenses
3. Click View code to view and/or print your license code, or
Click Send invite and provide the email address of the intended recipient.
The recipient of that code will then use the steps in Part II as appropriate.
If you have not yet purchased a StartMail account, follow these steps to receive a license code:
1. Go to startmail.com on the Web and click Sign up (or log in and click Purchase subscriptions at the top of the screen)
followed by I want to purchase a subscription
and follow the instructions for purchase.
2. Once you have purchased your license(s), you will see the following screen:
You may wish to bookmark this page, as it may be useful for you in the future! It will also be available via the confirmation email, if you provided one during the purchase process.
3. From here, StartMail can help you:
To Create a new StartMail account, click the upper green button and follow the instructions.
To Connect a license to an existing StartMail account, click the lower green button and follow the instructions.
You can also manage these options yourself by clicking to acquire your license code. You can also print from this interface. Be careful not to misplace it through! You can use it for yourself of give it to someone else.
Click to send your code as a gift. Just provide the email address of the intended recipient.
II. This part assumes you have your license code in hand. See Part I above if you need help accessing a code you purchased.
If you did not apply your code using the previous interface by clicking either Create a new StartMail account or Connect a license to an existing StartMail account, you can redeem your license code in one of the following ways.
Once you have your license code in hand: Log in to StartMail on the Web and click Sign up:
and then click I already have a subscription code
and then follow the instructions, providing your Subscription code when prompted.
Note: It is possible to renew a StartMail subscription for multiple years by purchasing multiple license codes and using them to extend one StartMail account.
