Using aliases in Thunderbird

This article assumes that you have set up at least one alias in StartMail and that it is active. If you have not set up an email alias already, please click this link to get started.

Add an alias to Thunderbird

  1. Open Thunderbird and go to Tools > Account Settings.

  2. Click Manage Identities.

  3. Click Add to add your email alias.

  4. Enter the following details:
    • Your name. This is the name your recipients will see when you write them a message using your alias.
    • Email Address. Your StartMail alias.
    • Reply-to Address. Your StartMail alias.

      If you like, review and adjust the settings within all the available tabs (Settings, Copies & Folders, etc.)

  5. Click OK. You have now added your alias to Thunderbird.


Compose a new message or reply using an alias

  1. From the Write window, click the From: field.

  2. Select your alias from the list.

  3. Compose and send as you would normally.
