StartMail changed certificate authority
Last modified on 20 August 2019 10:56 AM

On Tuesday August 20, 2019, we changed certificate authority.

We used to use an extended validation certificate issued by Buypass. This is what we have used for years, but recent developments in browsers made using an extended validation certificate rather useless[1].

Therefore, we're now using certificates issued by Let's Encrypt.

This change shouldn't influence your access to StartMail.com or our email services in any way. If you have configured strict security settings on your machine however, you may see a warning that a different certificate is being used now.

If you have any questions about this change, please fill out the support form or send a message to support@startmail.com
