If you want to access your StartMail account through an email client you'll need to create a set of credentials.
An email client is a program used to access and manage email. Examples include Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook, which are used on a computer, or pre-installed clients on devices such as the Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy.
Please note that we cannot guarantee the privacy or security of third-party software because we do not develop it. As with any program you install yourself, you must trust that it is secure. Similarly, when you enter your password into a computer program, you have to trust that it will keep your password safe, or not keep it at all.
Although using a client is not necessarily insecure, we cannot guarantee its security in the same way that we can for our StartMail WebMail.
Create a device password
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Trusted devices/IMAP
3. If this is the first device you're setting up, enable IMAP access and click ADD DEVICE
4. Choose a device name, enter your email account password and click on ADD DEVICE on top left.
5. The device information configuration values which you will enter into your device is shown. For security reasons, this is shown only once so take a screenshot or save elsewhere as needed.
