Transitioning your emails to a new provider

The easiest way to export messages from your StartMail email account, is to use IMAP and an email client. To learn how to do this, please follow the instructions below.

1. Create an IMAP connection for your StartMail account and set up your StartMail account in your mail client. Instructions on how to do so can be found here.

2. In order to copy your messages from your StartMail email address to the new email address, you must have your new email address set up in the email client as well. Instructions for some of the most common email providers can be found below.

   • Gmail

   • Yahoo

   • Outlook

3. When you have both email addresses set up in your mail client, copy all messages by bulk selecting the messages you want to export. Then right click and select Move to, select a folder in your new email address you want to move the messages to or create a local folder in your client and move your emails into that folder to store it locally.
   
   

4. In order to be able to decrypt your encrypted emails later, please export your key pair.
