To set up a connection to your StartMail account in Apple Mail on iOS on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, follow the instructions below.
First, make sure you have IMAP enabled in your StartMail account.
- Go to Settings > Apps > Mail, then tap Accounts.
- Tap Add Account.
- Tap Add Other Account
- Tap Mail Account

Enter your StartMail address in the address field.
Tap Next when you are finished.

In the next screen, make sure IMAP is selected at the top, then enter the information below:
- Name: the name you want to have as your display name. This is shown towards your recipients.
- Email: your full StartMail email address
- Description: enter the description of the account. This is useful if you have multiple email accounts.
Incoming Mail Server
- Host name: imap.startmail.com
- Username: your full StartMail email address.
- Password: Copy and paste the 16-digit device password from the "Add device password" popup. (This password may already be filled out).
Outgoing Mail ServerImportant: Even though the fields for Username and Password may appear optional in Apple Mail, they must be filled in for StartMail. SMTP authentication is required to send email.
- Host name: smtp.startmail.com
- Username: your full StartMail email address.
- Password: Copy and paste the 16-digit device password from the "Add device password" popup. (This password may already be filled out).
Note: You must have an active internet connection while entering these details, as the mail client will test the connection to ensure the settings are saved correctly.
Tap Next when you are finished. It may take a few seconds for the next page to become available.
- Make sure the "Mail" app remains enabled. (StartMail does not use the "Notes" app). Click Save.
