This article will show you how to create a StartMail Personal Account. Personal accounts always end with @startmail.com.
Watch our how-to video (hosted via our website), or follow the written instructions below.
Since this video was created, we have updated and improved the StartMail User Interface and introduced new subscription plans and features. While the video may show slight differences, the information in this Support article is current and accurate.
Please note that for an account with your own domain, you must already own that domain.
Important: While creating a StartMail account, you will be shown a one-time recovery code which you can use to recover your StartMail account in case you lose your password (see step 9). After you create your account, please set up a recovery address and confirm it as well. Your account can only be recovered with a validated recovery method in case you lose or forget your password.
To create a Personal account, go through the following steps.
- Navigate to https://startmail.com, scroll down and click on Try it free for 7 days.
- In this article we describe the process for creating a Personal Account. Click below "Personal" on Try it free for 7 days.

-
Display name: This is the name your recipients will see when they receive a message from you.
- Password: Enter this twice for your new StartMail account. There is no predefined number of characters or special characters that is required for your password. However, it is required to set either a Good or Strong password. StartMail will automatically indicate the password strength when you are entering it.

If you want to pay with Bitcoin instead, please send a message to support@startmail.com.

Store this code safely because this code is used to recover your StartMail account in case you lose your password. Please note that StartMail cannot generate or send this code to you again. Confirm you saved the one-time recovery code and click on Go to inbox.

Click Add.
- To be able to send and receive email from the new domain, transfer all the entries shown to the DNS settings of your domain host.
- Once each entry has been successfully added, the status of the entry will change from "Missing" to "Added".
